Turbulence intensity

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009842

A measure of the strength of turbulent fluctuations relative to the mean flow velocity. It is typically expressed as the ratio of the root-mean-square of the fluctuating velocity component to the mean velocity. High turbulence intensity indicates a highly chaotic and energetic flow, which can affect aircraft stability and pollutant dispersion.
