Grains of ice

Small, opaque, white particles of ice that fall from clouds, distinct from snow pellets or hail. These particles are typically conical or irregular in shape and bounce upon impact with hard surfaces. They form when supercooled water droplets freeze onto ice crystals in the atmosphere.
