Rain attenuation
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008361
The reduction in the strength of an electromagnetic signal, particularly at microwave and millimeter-wave frequencies, caused by its absorption and scattering by raindrops. This phenomenon can significantly degrade the performance of satellite communication systems, radar, and terrestrial wireless links. Attenuation increases with rain rate and signal frequency.
