Recovery time

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008455

The duration required for a meteorological sensor or system to return to its initial state or a specified percentage of its initial reading after a sudden change in the measured atmospheric parameter. This characteristic indicates how quickly an instrument can accurately respond to environmental fluctuations. For example, a thermometer's recovery time determines how fast it reflects a new air temperature.
