ROFOT
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008600
An acronym for Rate Of Forecasted Icing for Takeoff, a code used in aviation weather reports to indicate the expected intensity of airframe icing. The code quantifies the rate at which ice is predicted to accumulate on an aircraft's surfaces during the takeoff and initial climb phases. ROFOT values are expressed in terms of ice accretion thickness per minute, such as light (0.4 mm/min), moderate (0.8 mm/min), or heavy (1.2 mm/min).
