Runway temperature

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008627

The air temperature measured directly at the surface of an airport runway. This measurement is used by pilots and air traffic control to calculate aircraft performance parameters, such as takeoff distance and engine thrust settings. It is typically reported in degrees Celsius and can differ from ambient air temperature due to surface heating.
