Approach visibility

The horizontal distance a pilot can see forward from the cockpit of an aircraft during the approach phase of landing. This measurement is taken along the extended centerline of the runway and is reported in meters or feet. It is a key factor in determining whether an aircraft can safely land under instrument flight rules.
