Approach-light contact height

The height above the runway threshold at which a pilot of a landing aircraft can first see the approach lighting system. This height is determined by the aircraft's glide path and the visibility conditions. It provides a visual reference for the pilot to transition from instrument flight to visual flight during the final stages of an approach.
