GCA minimums

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005892

The lowest weather conditions, specified as a minimum ceiling height and visibility, under which a pilot is legally permitted to execute a Ground-Controlled Approach (GCA). These minimums are established for each specific runway and depend on factors like surrounding terrain, runway lighting, and the type of radar equipment used. If the reported weather is below these published values, the pilot cannot legally begin the final approach segment of the GCA.
