Snow course

A designated transect where manual measurements of snow depth and snow water equivalent are taken at regular intervals. These measurements provide data for water supply forecasting, flood prediction, and climate studies by quantifying the amount of water stored in the snowpack. A typical snow course consists of five or more measurement points along a permanently marked line.
