Snow tremor
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008993
A continuous, low-frequency seismic signal generated by the movement of a large mass of snow, such as an avalanche. The vibration is recorded by seismometers and is distinct from the short, sharp signals of earthquakes. These signals are analyzed to detect and characterize avalanches in remote or inaccessible areas, providing data on their timing, size, and path.
