South Atlantic Current

An eastward-flowing ocean current that forms the southern limb of the subtropical South Atlantic Gyre, running near 40 degrees south. It is fed by the Brazil Current, and the part that reaches the African coast turns north to feed the Benguela Current. The subtropical front separates it from the Antarctic Circumpolar Current to the south, and its volume transport is about 30 sverdrups.
