South Pacific convergence zone

A persistent band of atmospheric convection and rainfall that extends from the western Pacific warm pool southeastward into the central South Pacific Ocean. It is a major climate feature of the Southern Hemisphere tropics, influencing rainfall patterns and tropical cyclone activity. The SPCZ shifts latitudinally with the seasons and is affected by ENSO events.
