Still-water level

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009260

The theoretical elevation of the water surface in a body of water if all wave action, tides, and other transient disturbances were absent. This level represents the mean water surface, primarily influenced by factors such as river discharge and sea level pressure. It serves as a reference datum for measuring wave heights and tidal ranges.
