Thermotropic model
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009622
A simplified atmospheric model that assumes a specific relationship between temperature and geopotential height, often implying that the thermal wind is constant with height. This simplification reduces the complexity of the atmospheric equations, making them easier to solve for forecasting purposes. Such models were historically used for early numerical weather prediction.
