Thermal steering
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009592
The process by which atmospheric temperature gradients influence the movement of weather systems, particularly tropical cyclones. Warmer air masses tend to steer systems towards regions of lower pressure, while colder air masses can deflect them. This effect is a key factor in forecasting hurricane tracks.
