Thermal vorticity advection
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009595
The horizontal transport of thermal vorticity by the wind, which is a measure of the rotation of the temperature field. Positive thermal vorticity advection indicates that warmer air is moving into a region of colder air, or vice versa, leading to changes in temperature gradients. This process is often associated with the development and intensification of mid-latitude cyclones.
