Tornadic vortex signature

A Doppler radar signature characterized by a strong, localized rotation within a thunderstorm, indicating the presence of a mesocyclone that may be producing a tornado. It appears as a tight couplet of inbound and outbound velocities in close proximity. This signature is a primary tool for forecasters to issue tornado warnings.
