Tornadic debris signature
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009696
A radar signature indicating the presence of lofted debris within a tornado, detected by dual-polarization radar. It appears as high values of differential reflectivity and low values of correlation coefficient, signifying non-meteorological targets like trees, homes, and vehicles. This signature is a strong indicator of a damaging tornado on the ground.
