Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007822

A statistical measure that quantifies the similarity in the spatial distribution or pattern between two meteorological fields, such as observed and modeled temperature anomalies. It assesses how well the shapes and relative magnitudes of features in one field match those in another. The correlation coefficient typically ranges from -1 to +1.
