Cross correlation
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004770
A statistical measure that quantifies the similarity between two time series as a function of the time lag applied to one of them. It reveals how well two atmospheric variables, such as temperature and pressure, are related at different lead or lag times. The cross-correlation function can identify causal relationships or common forcing mechanisms between phenomena.
