Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008806

The statistical relationship between observations of a time series and previous observations in that same series. It quantifies the degree to which a value at one point in time is dependent on values at preceding points. This is a common characteristic of many meteorological variables, such as temperature or pressure, which tend to persist over short periods.
