Tornado echo
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009700
A radar reflectivity signature associated with a tornado, often appearing as a hook echo or a bounded weak echo region within a supercell thunderstorm. This pattern indicates the presence of strong rotation and precipitation wrapping around a mesocyclone. Dual-polarization radar provides more detailed information about the nature of the precipitation and debris within the echo.
