UHF

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009865

A radio band from 300 megahertz to 3 gigahertz, corresponding to wavelengths from one meter down to ten centimeters. Radar wind profilers operate in this band, for example at 404 megahertz in the NOAA Profiler Network and near 915 megahertz in boundary-layer profilers. UHF waves travel mainly along the line of sight, and the band also carries television, mobile phone and GPS signals.
