Upper-air climatology

The study of long-term average conditions and patterns of atmospheric variables at altitudes above the Earth's surface. This field examines the statistical properties of temperature, humidity, wind, and pressure in the troposphere and stratosphere. Data for upper-air climatology are primarily collected from radiosondes, aircraft, and satellites.
