VENTAL-PREVENTAL code

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010836

An air quality modeling system developed in Spain for forecasting pollution from industrial sources. The VENTAL component is a diagnostic wind field model that generates three-dimensional wind data, while the PREVENTAL component is a puff dispersion model that simulates the transport and diffusion of pollutants. This system is designed for short-term forecasting in areas with complex terrain, providing predictions of ground-level pollutant concentrations to manage air quality and plan for potential high-pollution episodes.
