Vent du midi

A warm, moist southerly wind in France and Switzerland that brings cloudy, humid, and often rainy weather from the Mediterranean Sea. This wind is a regional expression of a larger-scale southerly flow, frequently occurring ahead of an approaching low-pressure system or cold front from the west. In the Rhône Valley, it can precede the arrival of the Mistral.
