Wind setup

The temporary rise in water level along a coastline or in a confined body of water, such as a lake, caused by the sustained stress of wind pushing water towards the shore. This phenomenon is particularly noticeable during strong storms and can contribute to coastal flooding. It is a component of storm surge.
