Data rate

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000955

The speed at which digital information is transmitted from a downhole logging tool to the surface acquisition system. This rate determines the volume of measurement data that can be sent in real time during logging operations. Data rates for logging-while-drilling tools are measured in bits per second (bps) and are constrained by the transmission method, such as mud pulse telemetry, which has a much lower bandwidth than the wireline cable used in open-hole logging.
