Logging-while-drilling
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002214
The technique of embedding formation evaluation sensors into the bottomhole assembly to acquire petrophysical and geomechanical data as the well is being drilled. This method provides real-time information on properties like resistivity, porosity, and gamma ray emissions, which are transmitted to the surface via mud pulse telemetry or other methods. LWD tools are distinct from measurement-while-drilling tools, which focus on directional survey and drilling parameters.
