Mud pulse telemetry
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002455
A method of transmitting downhole data to the surface by generating pressure pulses in the drilling fluid column. A downhole pulser creates positive or negative pressure waves that travel up the mud column to surface sensors, which then decode the information. This is the most common method for real-time data transmission in measurement-while-drilling (MWD) and logging-while-drilling (LWD) systems.
