Time after bit
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003846
The elapsed time between when the drill bit passes a certain depth and when a logging-while-drilling (LWD) or measurement-while-drilling (MWD) sensor passes the same depth. This time delay is influenced by drilling speed and the position of the sensor in the bottom hole assembly. It is a factor in understanding the degree of invasion by drilling fluids into the formation.
