Pulse echo
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002993
A measurement technique that involves transmitting a short burst of energy and then listening for the reflections or echoes from boundaries or discontinuities. In well logging, this method is applied in acoustic tools to determine formation properties like travel time and impedance, which relate to porosity and rock strength. The time delay between the transmitted pulse and its echo provides distance information.
