Lessor royalty

A share of the gross production of oil and gas, or the proceeds from its sale, reserved by the landowner (lessor) in an oil and gas lease, free of the costs of production. This payment is typically expressed as a fraction, such as one-eighth or one-sixth, of the total production. It is a key component of the compensation received by the mineral owner for leasing their rights.
