Overriding royalty interest

A percentage of the gross production of oil and gas, free of all costs of drilling and producing, that is created from the working interest. This interest exists only for the duration of the underlying lease from which it was created. It is a non-operating interest, similar to a landowner's royalty, but derived from the lessee's share.
