Nonparticipating royalty

A royalty interest that does not grant the owner any rights to participate in the execution of oil and gas leases, delay rentals, or bonus payments. The owner's only right is to receive a share of production, free of the costs of exploration and production. This interest is typically carved out of the mineral estate.
