A geographical area containing one or more oil reservoirs, typically sharing a common geological structure or trapping mechanism. It includes all the wells, production facilities, and infrastructure necessary to extract and process crude oil. The largest oilfields can span hundreds of square kilometers and contain billions of barrels of recoverable oil.
