Trans-Alaska Pipeline System

A major oil transportation system that carries crude oil from the North Slope of Alaska to the port of Valdez in the south-central part of the state. Constructed in the 1970s, it includes a pipeline, pump stations, and the Valdez Marine Terminal. The pipeline is approximately 800 miles (1,287 kilometers) long and has a maximum capacity of over 2 million barrels per day.
