The Trans-Alaska Pipeline System, an 800-mile long crude oil pipeline that transports oil from Prudhoe Bay on Alaska's North Slope to the port of Valdez in Southcentral Alaska. Constructed between 1974 and 1977, it is one of the world's largest pipeline systems, designed to move up to 2 million barrels of oil per day. The pipeline crosses three mountain ranges and more than 800 rivers and streams.
