Tapered string
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003769
A drill string or casing string composed of sections with different diameters or wall thicknesses, typically decreasing towards the bottom of the well. This design distributes stress more evenly along the string, allowing for greater depth or heavier loads while managing weight and torque. It is engineered to match the varying loads and wellbore conditions encountered at different depths.
