Computerized numerical control

The automated control of manufacturing equipment, including 3D printers, through pre-programmed computer commands. A digital file containing instructions directs the precise movements of the print head, build platform, and other machine axes to construct a part layer by layer. The most common instruction language for this process is G-code, a standard defined by ISO 6983.
