Cupping
Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000088
A defect in vat photopolymerization where a hollow, cup-shaped region forms on a part, trapping liquid resin. This trapped resin creates suction forces during the layer peeling process in bottom-up printing, which can deform or rupture the walls of the printed object. It typically occurs in geometries with enclosed or concave features.
