Feed region

Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000132

The initial section of an extruder screw in a material extrusion 3D printer where solid polymer pellets or filament are introduced and conveyed forward. In this zone, the material is compacted and heated, but typically remains below its melting point. The design of the feed region influences the efficiency of material transport and the consistency of the melt.
