Travel

Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000394

The movement of a print head or extruder across the build area without depositing material. This non-printing movement occurs when the print head needs to relocate to a new starting point for the next segment of a layer or to avoid previously printed features. Excessive travel can increase print time and potentially lead to stringing.
