Traditional manufacturing
Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000393
A collection of established industrial production methods that predate the widespread adoption of additive techniques. These processes are primarily subtractive, involving the removal of material from a larger block by cutting, drilling, or grinding, or formative, such as casting and forging. Unlike additive manufacturing, which builds parts layer by layer from a digital file, these methods begin with a solid piece of stock material.
