Sand casting

Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000331

A traditional manufacturing process where a mold is created from sand, into which molten metal is poured to form a part. While not an additive manufacturing process itself, 3D printing is increasingly used to produce patterns or cores for sand casting, accelerating mold creation. This hybrid approach combines the design freedom of additive manufacturing with the cost-effectiveness of casting for large metal parts.
