Faceted geometry
Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000130
A representation of a three-dimensional surface using a mesh of flat, polygonal shapes, primarily triangles. This method approximates smooth curves and complex surfaces, with a higher number of smaller facets resulting in a more accurate representation of the original design. The STL (Standard Tessellation Language) file format is the industry standard for transferring this type of geometry to 3D printers.
