Prototype tooling
Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000317
Molds, dies, jigs, or fixtures produced quickly and at a low cost to manufacture a small batch of parts for testing and evaluation. This tooling is not intended for high-volume production but serves as a bridge to verify part design and manufacturability before investing in expensive, hardened production tooling. Additive manufacturing is used to create prototype tooling directly, or to produce patterns for casting metal tools, significantly reducing lead times.
