Bit string

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001353

A sequence of binary digits, 0s and 1s, used in computational chemistry to encode molecular information. Each position in the string corresponds to a specific structural feature or property, with a 1 indicating its presence and a 0 indicating its absence. These representations, known as molecular fingerprints, are used in similarity searching, where the Tanimoto coefficient is a common metric for comparing two bit strings.
