Environmental impact assessment

A formal process to predict and evaluate the environmental consequences of a proposed project or development before it is carried out. This systematic procedure identifies potential positive and negative impacts on ecosystems, human health, and socio-economic conditions. The assessment results inform decision-making and the design of mitigation measures.
